About Us

Our Story.

Desert View Bible Church began as a prayer group in the home of Sandy and Margie Mason in Cave Creek, AZ in the winter of 2001. Scottsdale Bible Church had the foresight to purchase 40 acres at the corner of Central Avenue and Carefree Highway a few years prior, and had invited Sandy and Margie to come and launch our church in the North Valley Corridor. For two years we met at Cactus Shadows High School, and were able to open our doors at our current location in the Spring of 2004.

Since that time, our endeavor has been to reach and care for the people of the North Valley area of Phoenix. God has entrusted us with a wonderful staff and fellowship, committed to making this a place where all that come will grow in their love for God and seek to make an eternal difference in the world.

 Project Reach
We started Project Reach a year ago with the primary goal to transform 40 acres for God’s Kingdom.  One component of Project Reach is our new Children and Youth Building.  Click on Project Reach if you would like to learn more.

Core Values.

At Desert View Bible Church, the motivation for everything we do is to see God glorified. It is God’s work, not man’s. The Scriptures are His word to us and set our priorities for what is important. Our purpose is to see transformed lives of all ages growing in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through the powerful work of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, we hold the following values in regards to the mission of our ministry here at Desert View:

  • Prayer: We are committed to making prayer a fundamental part of our individual lives, as well as the body of believers. We rely on prayer as the vital and effective way to communicate with God. Our desire is to hear His voice regarding the direction for our lives, ministries and activities of His church. (Colossians 4:2-4)
  • The Bible: We teach the Bible, God’s written word. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the source of truth for faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Reaching the Unreached: We have been commissioned, as individuals and a body, to introduce those closest to us and furthest away to a relationship with Jesus Christ. (Matthew 25:31-40, Luke 15)
  • Shepherd Leadership: The primary leadership of the church is best expressed in a Shepherd team. This is a fellowship of spiritually mature men who seek to become servant leaders by loving, protecting and equipping the congregation. (Luke 22:24-27)
  • Active Worship: Worship is to be genuine, sacrificial and thoughtful. We desire that all ages come prepared to actively participate in the worship experience. (Psalm 29:1-2, Colossians 3:16, I Corinthians 14:26)
  • Serving the Poor: We feel called to minister to the poor, discouraged, and disadvantaged within our community and around the world. (Isaiah 58:5-8, Luke 4:14-21)
  • Freedom & Grace: We trust in, celebrate and desire to express the grace and freedom that has been secured for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 5:1, 13)
  • Community: We desire authentic relationships as we grow deeper in maturity by loving one another, learn from one another, serve one another and reach out to those around us. (Acts 2:42-47)
  • Equipped Body: We are committed to spiritually equipping and empowering believers to serve and use their gifts to impact others in their sphere of influence. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
  • Discipleship: We value Christ’s method of making disciples and His imperative that we are disciples who would in turn make disciples. We believe the most effective way to fulfill the Great Commission is through the principle of multiplication rather than addition. (Matthew 28:18)

Statement of Faith.

  1. We believe in the scriptures of the Old and New Testament as being without error in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (Matthew 5:18 I Thessalonians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16-17)
  2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:6; Matthew 28:18-19; II Corinthians 13:4)
  3. We believe Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man. The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus, and to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ. (Matthew 1:20-25; John 16:8; I Corinthians 2:12; Romans 8:9-11)
  4. We believe man was created in the image of God: that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. All human beings are born with a sinful nature and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility are sinners in thought, word, and deed. (Genesis 1:26-28; Romans 5:12; Genesis 3:1-24)
  5. We believe the Lord Jesus died in our place for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are purchased and declared justified because of His blood sacrifice. (II Corinthians 5:18-21; Romans 5:8; Romans 10:9-10)
  6. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, and His present life for us as High priest and advocate. (Romans 1:4; I Corinthians 15:12-19; Acts 1:9-11)
  7. We believe in “The Blessed Hope”- the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
  8. We believe that all who receive by faith the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 10:28-29)
  9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost along with Satan and the other fallen angels. (Matthew 25:34, 41, 46; Revelation 20:10-15; II Thessalonians 1:9)
  10. We believe that the Church is a spiritual organism made up of all believers in Christ; that in its local manifestation is an autonomous assembly of believers, and that its ordinances are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Colossians 1:18; Philippians 1:1; I Corinthians 11:23-31; Matthew 28:19-20)
