Local Outreach

Desert View Bible Church actively supports key ministries serving the local communities, our city or our state.
Following are some of the key ministries we support corporately.  Numerous members of DVBC volunteer their time and resources to these vibrant ministries.  Please consider joining in.

Alongside Ministries

Have you ever wondered what happens to prisoners when they are released from prison?  Most of them wind up right back in prison within a short time. Why?  Well, what would you do if you had been in prison for awhile and were then released with only the clothes on your back and a check for $50?  You have no identification with which to cash the check.  You have no place to stay.  You have no job.  You have no transportation.  Most of the things we take for granted in our daily lives have been taken away from these prisoners while they were serving their sentences.  Without help, they are likely to be preyed upon by hucksters and the very people who helped get them into trouble in the first place, leading right back to prison.

But what if there was someone waiting for them when they were released from prison?  What if they had been mentored while they were in prison in preparation for their release?  What if they had someone to take them to a safe place to live for a while, and even find them a job?  What would be their chances of making it on the outside and not returning?  Much better, you say?

Exactly!  And that is what Alongside Ministries does.  Their name says it all.  They come alongside prisoners to prepare them and help them to restore their lives.

House of Refuge Sunnyslope & House of Hope

The House of Refuge exists to provide shelter, transitional housing, and supportive services for persons coming out of homelessness.  The mission of House of Refuge is to empower their residents to experience healing and become self-sufficient.

The House of Hope provides a safe environment for single mothers who have difficulty locating housing.

The vision of House of Refuge and House of Hope is to use the power and love of Jesus Christ to help transform men and women into the people that God intended them to be.

Several members of Desert View Bible Church actively support and serve at “the House” as it is affectionately called.  You can, too.  The House and its residents can always use an extra hand for their ongoing projects or simply to provide fellowship at dinner.

Neighborhood Ministries

Neighborhood Ministries is located in the heart of Phoenix, where the volunteers of this ministry live out their stated mission on a daily basis. That mission is “to be the presence of Jesus Christ, sharing His life-transforming hope, love, and power among distressed families of urban Phoenix to ignite their passion for God and His Kingdom.”

The people of Neighborhood Ministries do not just talk a good game, they live it every day. They model the Lord’s words from Matthew 25:34-36 by giving to “the least of these.”

Neighborhood Ministries works with suburban churches like Desert View to form strong partnerships and build cross-cultural relationships that celebrate the diversity of God’s people. You cannot visit Neighborhood Ministries without seeing and feeling the love God has for all His people.

Young Life

Young Life seeks to give adolescents the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him.  They do this through Young Life (high school) and Wyld Life (junior high) clubs that meet on school campuses where volunteer leaders pray for young people, build personal relationships, win the right to be heard, and provide experiences that are fun, adventurous and life-changing.  Volunteers share their lives and the Good News of Jesus Christ with adolescents, inviting them to personally respond, and then love, nurture, and help them regardless of their response.
