Day 15 – Peace

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. II Thess.3:16

Does anything wrinkle or ruffle the plan of heaven to the place where frustration flows from the throne of heaven? Of course not! God is in control and at peace at all times. Nothing done or said in heaven or in earth has challenged His peace.

Now, what about you? Have you been wrestled to the ground recently with a hold that was emotionally self-induced? Rewinding and replaying “what if” scenes is a temptation and sometimes a preoccupation we can fight within on a constant basis. Discounting such inward behavior with an attitude of “well, that’s just me,” is not only a passive response, but also one that is completely damaging.

Here is the good news. As a child of God, we are beneficiaries of all that is His. However, it must come from Him and not the cessation of any activity that may rob the believer of a temporary calm spirit. “Peace at all times and in every way” is not a learned behavior, but a benefit of walking with God.

One dark and stormy night, train passengers were uneasy as they raced along the tracks bordered by lightning and thunder. One of the frightened passengers noticed a small boy seemingly unaffected by what was happening. “Little boy,” he asked, “aren’t you afraid?” The little boy looked up, smiling and replied with pride, “No, sir, I’m not scared, ‘cuz my daddy’s the engineer!”

Peace comes from whom you know and whose you are!

Real peace is not the calm. Real peace is the presence of God in the storm.  (Unknown)

REFLECTION: Is there a lack of peace in my life? If so, where?

PRAYER: Lord, I want Your peace in all areas of my life. Help me to focus on who You are, and not my circumstances.
