What We Believe

What We Believe

WE BELIEVE in the scriptures of the Old and New Testament as being without error in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (Matthew 5:18 I Thessalonians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16-17)

WE BELIEVE in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:6; Matthew 28:18-19; II Corinthians 13:4)

WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man. The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus, and to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ. (Matthew 1:20-25; John 16:8; I Corinthians 2:12; Romans 8:9-11)

WE BELIEVE man was created in the image of God: that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. All human beings are born with a sinful nature. (Genesis 1:26-28; Romans 5:12; Genesis 3:1-24)

WE BELIEVE the Lord Jesus died in our place for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are purchased and declared justified because of His blood sacrifice. (II Corinthians 5:18-21; Romans 5:8; Romans 10:9-10)

WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, and His present life for us as High priest and advocate. (Romans 1:4; I Corinthians 15:12-19; Acts 1:9-11)

WE BELIEVE in “The Blessed Hope”- the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

WE BELIEVE that all who receive by faith the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 10:28-29)

WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost along with Satan and the other fallen angels. (Matthew 25:34, 41, 46; Revelation 20:10-15; II Thessalonians 1:9)

WE BELIEVE that the Church is a spiritual organism made up of all believers in Christ; that in its local manifestation is an autonomous assembly of believers, and that its ordinances are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Colossians 1:18; Philippians 1:1; I Corinthians 11:23-31; Matthew 28:19-20)
